The Howe Sound Crest Trail is the serious mountain option above Lions Bay and Porteau Cove. The full route runs high along the Coast Mountains toward Cypress Bowl, passing the Lions and a line of ridges, lakes, and viewpoints above Howe Sound.
Most visitors should treat it as a demanding day-hike area rather than a casual walk. Routes from Lions Bay to the Lions, Mount Harvey, Brunswick Mountain, or Mount Unnecessary are steep and exposed, with large elevation gains and lingering snow well into the warm season. In good conditions the views are superb.
