The Alberni Pacific Railway runs from the 1912 Canadian Pacific station through town and toward McLean Mill when service is active. Its best-known engine is a restored 1929 Baldwin logging locomotive, the kind of machine that makes more sense here than it would in a glass case.
Schedules vary and the railway has not always operated every season, so treat it as a bonus rather than a guaranteed attraction. If it is running, the ride neatly ties Port Alberni's waterfront, rail, and timber history together.
