The Historic Townsite is Powell River's main cultural anchor. Laid out in 1910 for the paper mill, it was designed as a planned single-industry town and later recognised as a National Historic District. More than 400 original buildings remain inside the old town plan, so a walk here gives you a rare look at an industrial community that has not been flattened into anonymous suburbia.
Pick up or download the self-guided walking tour and take your time. The streets are quiet, the mill still dominates the shore, and buildings such as Dwight Hall, the Rodmay Hotel, and the Patricia Theatre give the district its period shape.
