Larch Hills Nordic

A volunteer-run cross-country ski and mountain bike area in the hills east of Salmon Arm.

Larch Hills Nordic is a community-run trail network about 20 kilometres east of Salmon Arm, sitting at an elevation that reliably holds snow from December into March. The ski trails are groomed for both classic and skate skiing, and the system is large enough — around 50 kilometres of trail — to keep a competent skier busy for a full day. It's not a resort; there's a warming hut and a small day lodge but no lifts, no rentals, and no snowmaking. Bring your own gear and expect a quiet Nordic experience.

In summer, the same network converts to mountain biking and hiking trails. The terrain is gentler than the more technical bike parks found elsewhere in BC, which makes it accessible to intermediate riders and families. The views from the higher trails take in Shuswap Lake and the valley below Salmon Arm. Access is via the Grandview Bench Road and Edgar Road — a gravel drive that requires a bit of navigation but is fine for any vehicle in dry conditions.
