The Bulkley Valley Museum is small, central, and useful before you head into the landscape. Its exhibits and archives cover the valley's social history, railway growth, settler stories, and Indigenous context, giving Smithers more depth than the alpine storefronts alone suggest.
It is a good bad-weather stop and a sensible first hour if you want to understand why this town exists where it does.
