Bear Glacier

Highway 37A glacier view where blue ice drops toward Strohn Lake before the Stewart valley.

Bear Glacier is the view that tells you the Stewart detour is serious. The glacier drops from the mountains toward Strohn Lake beside Highway 37A, with enough blue ice and steep forest around it to stop almost every first-time driver.

It is an easy roadside stop rather than a hike. Pull over only where it is safe, take the view, and keep going toward Stewart as the valley narrows.
