Fish Creek is just north of Hyder, Alaska, but for most travellers it belongs to a Stewart day. A raised boardwalk looks over a salmon stream where black bears and brown bears may feed from mid-July into September.
The site is managed, ticketed in season, and far better than trying to watch bears from the roadside. Timing matters: outside the salmon run it can be a quiet creek in the woods, while on a good day it is one of the easiest road-accessible bear-viewing stops in the region.
