The Daly House Museum occupies one of Brandon's finest surviving Victorian homes, a handsome two-storey brick house built in 1882 on a quiet residential street near the downtown core. The house belonged to Thomas Mayne Daly, Brandon's first mayor, and the museum does a thorough job of reconstructing both the building and its era. Period furniture, domestic objects, and rotating exhibits trace Brandon's early history from its founding in 1881 through the homestead period and the two world wars.
The garden is well maintained and the overall scale makes this an easy, unhurried visit. It is small enough to cover in an hour but substantial enough to reward attention. Local volunteers run the place with evident enthusiasm.
