Gimli Glider Museum

Small museum about the Air Canada 767 that glided safely into Gimli in 1983

Address 119B 1st Avenue, Gimli, Manitoba

The Gimli Glider Museum tells the story of Air Canada Flight 143, a Boeing 767 that ran out of fuel at cruising altitude in 1983 and glided to a safe landing at the former Gimli air base. It is one of the great near-disaster stories in Canadian aviation.

The museum is small, but the subject is gripping: fuel calculations, cockpit decisions, a dead-stick landing, and a runway that had become a local drag strip.
