Prairie Mountain Regional Museum

The Prairie Mountain Regional Museum sits about five kilometres east of Shoal Lake along Highway 16 (the Yellowhead). It specialises in horse-drawn vehicles, with a large collection of fully restored farm wagons, sleighs, buggies, and related equipment representing the agricultural past of the western Manitoba prairies.

The collection gives a tangible sense of how pioneer farm communities moved goods and people before the arrival of the tractor and the automobile. For anyone interested in rural heritage or the mechanics of pre-industrial farming, the museum is worth the short detour from the highway.
