The Village Historique Acadien is the essential stop near Caraquet: an open-air museum of Acadian life from 1770 to 1949, spread across farmhouses, workshops, mills, a school, a chapel, and working gardens. Costumed interpreters keep the place from feeling static. You can ask about crops, cooking, blacksmithing, or family life and usually get a practical answer rather than a memorised speech.
Allow at least three hours. The site is large, the buildings are spaced out, and the best moments often come from lingering while someone bakes, repairs a tool, or explains how a family made a living on the Acadian coast.
