MacDonald Farm Provincial Heritage Place

Restored stone farmhouse interpreting Scottish settlement on the Miramichi River.

MacDonald Farm Provincial Heritage Place is a restored stone farmhouse downstream from the city, near where the Bartibog River meets the Miramichi. Colonel Alexander MacDonald, a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, built the house from Scottish stone.

Costumed guides and period rooms make it more than a roadside historic marker. The river setting helps explain why early farms, timber routes, and settlements clustered here.
