The Enclosure is a small provincial park where the Northwest and Southwest Miramichi rivers meet. It contains graves of some of the earliest Scottish and English settlers on the Miramichi, including William Davidson, often described as the first permanent European settler in the area.
The site is quiet and simple, but the geography matters. Standing at the river junction makes the early settlement story easier to picture.
