Mealy Mountains National Park Reserve is the exceptional reason to think about Cartwright as more than a dot on the map. The park protects a vast Labrador landscape of rounded mountains, boreal forest, tundra, fjords, salmon rivers, and coastal habitat.
Access from Cartwright is normally by sea with local help, and this is not a casual trailhead park. Plans need time, weather flexibility, and proper wilderness preparation.
