The lighthouse gives Fortune Head a visible landmark above the scientific one. It is operated by the Canadian Coast Guard and stands within the ecological reserve, close to the cliffs that made the headland famous among geologists.
Treat it as part of the same outing as the reserve, not as a separate half-day sight. The draw is the combination of sea, wind, and an unusually meaningful piece of rock.
