Port-Royal Habitation

Reconstructed 1605 French settlement on the Annapolis Basin, one of the key places in early Acadia.

Port-Royal Habitation reconstructs the enclosed wooden compound built by French settlers in 1605. The rooms are simple, but they make the early Atlantic story more concrete than a plaque can: storage, work spaces, sleeping quarters, and the constant presence of the water outside.

It is a short drive from Annapolis Royal and pairs naturally with Fort Anne. Seeing both gives you the shift from early French settlement to the later fortified town.
