Cheltenham Badlands

Red rolling shale badlands, protected by a short boardwalk on the Niagara Escarpment.

Cheltenham Badlands is the quick, strange sight that makes Caledon feel unlike the rest of the Toronto fringe. The exposed Queenston shale forms rounded red ridges, striped and bare, with a boardwalk keeping visitors off the fragile slopes.

You do not need long here. Treat it as a striking stop between longer walks at Forks of the Credit or Belfountain, and book or check access rules in season before driving out.
