First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church is tied to Chatham's Underground Railroad history. Founded in the 1840s, it is remembered as a meeting place used by abolitionist John Brown before the raid on Harpers Ferry.

The church is best visited as part of a wider Chatham-Kent history circuit, together with the Chatham-Kent Museum, Buxton National Historic Site, and the Josiah Henson Museum.
