Albion Falls

Tiered cascade in the east end on the Niagara Escarpment

Albion Falls is a 19-metre classical cascade tumbling over the Niagara Escarpment in east Hamilton, easy to find and reach but dramatic enough to feel like a real find. A short loop trail from King's Forest Park leads to an upper and lower viewing platform. Climbing down to the base is forbidden — the unstable shale has caused fatal accidents — but the upper viewpoint is the better photo anyway.

Albion is in the network of falls reachable on the Bruce Trail, which crosses the escarpment top here. From Albion you can walk west along the trail to the Devil's Punch Bowl, or east to the King's Forest. Free parking. Best after spring snowmelt or a heavy rain — flow is low by late summer.
