Hamilton Farmers' Market

Year-round indoor market trading since 1837

Hamilton's Farmers' Market has operated continuously since 1837, making it one of the oldest in Canada. The current home — a covered indoor space at York Boulevard and James Street North, next to the Hamilton Public Library — hosts about 65 vendors selling fresh produce, meat, cheese, baked goods, flowers, and a strong international mix that reflects the city's Portuguese, Italian, and Vietnamese communities.

Open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Saturday is busiest; Tuesday is the quietest and best for chatting with vendors. There is a food court at the centre with cheap eats from a dozen kitchens, popular at lunchtime. Free parking in the Jackson Square lot with a market validation.
