City Centre

The City Centre is Mississauga's downtown, a high-rise district built up around Hurontario Street at the geographic heart of the city. The Civic Centre, Square One Shopping Centre, Living Arts Centre and Celebration Square are clustered within a few minutes' walk of one another, along with the two Absolute World towers and a growing cluster of slim residential skyscrapers.

It is not a historic core — Square One opened on a corn field in 1973 — but it is the place where the city has put most of its public effort, and on a summer evening with a film projected onto the wall of the Civic Centre it actually works as a downtown. The City Centre Transit Terminal alongside Square One is the hub for all MiWay bus routes.
