Port Credit

Port Credit is a low-rise lakefront neighbourhood on the south side of the city, built up around the mouth of the Credit River. It was a fishing village in the 19th century and still has the relaxed, walkable feel of one: a working harbour with a lighthouse, a couple of marinas, the Snug Harbour seafront patio, and a single main street — Lakeshore Road — lined with independent restaurants, cafes and pubs.

The Waterfront Trail runs through the neighbourhood and continues east along Lake Ontario all the way to downtown Toronto. Port Credit has its own GO train station with regular trains to Union Station in about 25 minutes.

Friday nights in summer mean live music at the gazebo on the waterfront; the Southside Shuffle blues and jazz festival takes over the main street for a long weekend in early September.
