Kerr Village is a compact commercial strip along Kerr Street north of Lakeshore Road, about 1.5 km west of Old Oakville. It is Oakville's most diverse and down-to-earth neighbourhood — independent restaurants, ethnic grocers, a weekly farmers' market, and a mix of residents that is noticeably less affluent than the Old Oakville area. The village has gentrified somewhat in recent years but remains the closest thing Oakville has to a neighbourhood with genuine local character.
The restaurant options here tend to be more affordable and more varied than on Lakeshore Road: Vietnamese pho, Sri Lankan curry, Peruvian rotisserie chicken, and a handful of craft beer pubs all operate within a few blocks.
