Shaw Maple Syrup Production is a small maple farm outside Orillia where you can see how sap is collected and boiled into syrup. It is most interesting during the sugaring season, when the maple bush is active and the horse-drawn sleigh or wagon rides make the visit feel less like a shop stop.
There is also a pancake and sausage restaurant, which is the sensible way to finish the trip. It is a simple country outing rather than a major sight, but a good choice if you want a taste of rural Ontario close to town.
