Discovery Harbour

Reconstructed War of 1812-era naval and military base on Penetanguishene Bay.

Discovery Harbour is the sight that justifies Penetanguishene as a destination. The living-history site reconstructs the naval and military base that guarded British interests on the upper Great Lakes after the War of 1812.

The replica schooners, waterfront boardwalks, and interpreters make the history easy to grasp without turning it into a dry lesson. It is especially good if you have already seen Midland's mission sites and want the military half of the Georgian Bay story.
