Petrolia Discovery

Outdoor heritage park telling the oil rush story

Petrolia Discovery is a living-history site on the southern edge of town, on the grounds of what was once a working oil field. Reconstructed 19th-century drilling rigs, a boiler house, and a sample of pumpjacks show how the early industry worked.

The site is run by volunteers and is open seasonally — check ahead. Knowledgeable docents (often retired oil workers) tell the story of the "international drillers" who exported Petrolia know-how to oil fields around the world.
