The Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario occupies the old Canadian Northern station, a reminder of the period when Smiths Falls was a serious rail junction. The museum keeps rolling stock, railway equipment, station rooms, and local rail history in the place where much of that history actually happened.
It is a good, concrete museum rather than a polished national showcase. That suits Smiths Falls: the town's importance came from practical connections, and the old station still makes the railway story easy to read.
