Lac La Ronge Provincial Park is the reason most independent travellers give La Ronge more than a fuel stop. The park covers a vast slice of boreal forest, lakes, islands, and Canadian Shield rock east and north of town.
Paddlers get the most from it. Saskatchewan Parks describes close to 100 lakes and more than 30 documented canoe routes, many following old fur-trade lines. Day visitors can still enjoy the lake shore, short trails, swimming spots, and the sense that real backcountry begins very quickly here.
