Cabarete's main beach curves in a wide arc along the town's north side, backed by a strip of restaurants, bars, and shops. The morning is typically calm, with glassy water and a relaxed scene — beach vendors, breakfast spots opening up, the occasional early swimmer. By midday the windsurfers are out in force, using this stretch as their primary launching ground.
The beach is broad enough that there's room for everyone: swimmers toward the east end, windsurfers launching further along. The reef offshore tames the swell somewhat. In the evening the beach road becomes social, with tables spilling out from restaurants and the familiar mix of travellers, expats, and instructors comparing the day's conditions.
