Pic de Formon

Pic de Formon rises to about 2,219 metres inside the Macaya massif. It is often mentioned with Pic Macaya because the two peaks frame the high cloud-forest zone that makes the national park internationally important.

For visitors, Formon is less a standalone sightseeing stop than part of the park's mountain system. Its ridges, wet forest, and biological value are the reason conservationists keep returning to this remote corner of Haiti despite the logistical difficulty.

A story
The cloud forest around Pic de Formon and Pic Macaya is one of the last known habitats of several critically threatened species. Conservation here is not abstract: lose these ridges and some forms of life may have nowhere else to go.
