Mount Gimie is Saint Lucia's highest peak, buried in the wet interior southwest of the island's centre. The hike is demanding by island standards: muddy, steep, humid, and best done with a guide who knows current trail conditions.
On a clear day the upper slopes give wide views across the rainforest and toward the coast. On a cloudy day, which is common, the pleasure is more intimate: moss, dripping leaves, and the satisfaction of earning the island's roof.
