Kroschel Wildlife Center is a guided wildlife facility northwest of Haines, reached by driving out the Haines Highway and down Mosquito Lake Road. Tours bring visitors close to Alaskan animals such as moose, lynx, foxes, wolves, reindeer, porcupines, owls, and sometimes bears.
It is not a wilderness encounter, and that distinction matters. The value is the access: good interpretation, strong photography chances, and a way for families to see animals that would be unsafe or unrealistic to approach in the wild.
