Carrie M. McLain Memorial Museum

Local museum covering Nome's gold rush, serum run, and Bering Sea history.

Carrie M. McLain Memorial Museum is the best starting point for Nome's local history. Exhibits cover the gold rush, the 1925 serum run, mining, aviation, and the everyday life of a town that has always depended on difficult transport.

Visit before wandering Front Street. The beach and low buildings make more sense once you know how quickly Nome boomed and how hard it was to keep supplied.
