Iditarod Finish

Front Street finish line of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Nome is the finish of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, and in mid-March the arrival under the burled arch is the town's biggest public moment. Mushers reach Front Street after roughly a thousand miles across Alaska.

Outside race week, the finish is more symbol than spectacle, but it still anchors one of Nome's central stories: distance, weather, dogs, and the old trail across the state.
