Tok is dog-musher country and several local kennels run summer demonstrations for travellers passing through. The Burnt Paw cabins, alongside other operators on the Alaska Highway in town, host short evening talks about training, racing, and life with a working sled team. You get to meet the dogs, watch them get hooked up to a wheeled training rig, and ask whatever you want about the Iditarod or the Yukon Quest.
It is short, free or cheap, and one of the more grounded glimpses of how people actually live out here. The dogs are friendly, the mushers are blunt, and the whole thing takes under an hour.
