Tubac Presidio State Historic Park is the town's core sight. It preserves the site of the Spanish fort founded in 1752, with a small museum, archaeological remains, historic buildings, and material on Juan Bautista de Anza's expedition toward California.
The park is modest, but it gives Tubac its depth. Without it, the town would be a pleasant gallery stop; with it, the adobe streets around the centre sit in a much older borderlands story.
