The Navajo Nation Zoo and Botanical Park is small, but it has a distinctive mission. It focuses on animals and plants native to Navajo lands and the Southwest, with interpretation that includes Navajo language and cultural meaning.
Many animals here arrived injured or orphaned, so the feel is closer to a sanctuary and teaching site than a conventional big-city zoo. It pairs naturally with the museum next door.
