A genuine downtown breakfast institution on Central Avenue, opposite Bathhouse Row. Open since 1940 and barely altered — Formica counter, paper placemats, paper-cap cooks at the griddle. The pancakes are large and good; the ham steak with red-eye gravy is the order if you want to do this properly.
Cash only used to be the rule; cards now accepted. Lines start forming by 8am on weekends. Closes at noon — this is breakfast and breakfast only.
