Cassadaga Hotel

The Cassadaga Hotel is the community's most visible landmark, a two-storey vernacular building on the main road that has operated since 1927. It now functions as an independent hotel and has its own resident mediums and regular séance events open to guests and walk-ins. The hotel also houses Lost in Time Café, which serves food and functions as the informal social hub for both residents and visitors.

Staying overnight here is the best way to absorb the community's atmosphere — Cassadaga at dusk, with the oaks closing in and the lights in the medium houses coming on, has a genuinely atmospheric quality that a day visit misses. The rooms are plain but functional; this is not a luxury operation.

A story
The hotel was built in 1927 and operated by the Spiritualist community until the 1970s, when it was sold. Various owners have claimed that the hotel is one of the most haunted buildings in Florida — Room 22 is specifically singled out in ghost-hunting literature. Whether or not you believe in hauntings, the building has genuine atmosphere: dark wood, old linoleum, and the particular quiet of a hotel that has seen better decades.
