The Florida Citrus Tower is Clermont's classic landmark, a 226-foot observation tower opened in 1956 when visitors came to look over miles of orange groves. The groves have mostly given way to suburbs, but the tower still gives a rare high view over Central Florida's lakes and ridges.
It is more interesting if you treat it as a piece of Florida roadside history rather than a pure viewpoint. The building, old promotional feel, and odd survival beside modern Highway 27 are half the appeal.
