Lake Louisa State Park is the best reason to linger in Clermont. It protects a chain of lakes, live oak, cypress, saw palmetto, and sandy uplands on the edge of the Green Swamp, only a short drive from the Orlando sprawl.
The park suits a slow day outdoors: walking trails, biking, kayaking, fishing, and horseback riding are all possible. In late afternoon the lakes are especially good, with long light over the water and far fewer people than the big-ticket attractions closer to Orlando.
