The Air Force Armament Museum sits just north of Fort Walton Beach near Eglin Air Force Base, whose testing ranges have shaped this coast for decades. The museum is devoted to aircraft armament and delivery systems, which sounds narrow until you are standing under the wings of a B-52, AC-130, or fighter jet with rows of missiles and bombs laid out around it.
Inside are aircraft, weapons, and exhibits on the technology and people behind them; outside is the heavy metal, lined up in the Florida sun. It is free, easy to pair with a beach day, and much more specific than a generic aviation museum.
