Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park is the family-friendly anchor on Okaloosa Island, a compact marine park with dolphins, sea lions, stingrays, turtles, and other Gulf Coast animals. It has been part of the Emerald Coast visitor circuit for decades and sits right by the beach, so it is easy to combine with sand time rather than make it a separate expedition.
The experience is more aquarium-and-show park than wild nature, but it works well for children and for a hot or stormy stretch when the beach is less inviting.
