Okaloosa Island Pier pushes out over the clear Gulf water beside the public beach, boardwalk, and Gulfarium. It is a simple pleasure: walk out above the surf, watch anglers pull up pompano or Spanish mackerel, and look back at the long white strip of Okaloosa Island.
Even if you do not fish, the pier is one of the better places in town for a sunset or a quick sense of the coast. Dolphins are common enough offshore that it is worth pausing before you turn back toward the boardwalk.
