The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood is the main cultural institution in the city, a multi-disciplinary arts organization with gallery space, performing arts programming, and an arts education programme for local schools. The exhibitions rotate regularly and cover contemporary art, photography, and cultural history, with a particular focus on Florida and Latin American work given the local demographics.
The center is in the downtown area, a few blocks inland from the beach. It gives Hollywood Beach something that pure resort towns usually lack — a place for contemporary art that takes itself seriously. If you are spending more than a day in the area and want an alternative to the beach, this is the obvious stop.
