Venetian Gardens

45 acres of lakefront parkland with walking bridges and boat ramps on Lake Harris

Venetian Gardens is Leesburg's waterfront crown jewel — 45 acres of landscaped parkland on the northwest shore of Lake Harris, with paved paths winding across causeways and small islands connected by walking bridges. On a clear morning the water reflects the sky and the place feels genuinely beautiful rather than merely functional.

The park has boat ramps if you have your own vessel, picnic pavilions, a seasonal splash pad for children, sand volleyball courts, and a community pool open in summer. The Venetian Cove Marina sits adjacent, offering access to the Harris Chain of Lakes for fishing or just cruising. Bring your own gear for the best fishing; the lake holds largemouth bass, bluegill, and speckled perch. Entry is free.

A story
The park takes its name from the 1920s land boom era, when Leesburg promoters sold the vision of a Florida Venice complete with causeways and island gardens. The boom went bust before most of it was built, but the landscaped lakefront that remained became the city's best public space.
