Five Points

Five Points is the social hub of the Riverside neighbourhood, a small commercial intersection where Park Street, Margaret Street, and Lomax Street converge. A tight cluster of independent bars, restaurants, vintage clothing shops, record stores, and tattoo parlours makes it the most animated corner of Jacksonville's alternative social scene.

The intersection gives Five Points an unusual urban intensity for a city otherwise dominated by strip malls and driveways. On weekend evenings the bars spill out onto the sidewalks and the streets fill with people moving between venues. The Burrito Gallery, a longtime neighbourhood institution, serves Mexican food until late. Vagabond Coffee is good in the morning. The whole area is walkable and, unusually for Jacksonville, you can easily spend an afternoon here without getting in a car.
