Fort King was a U.S. Army post at the centre of the conflict that became the Second Seminole War. The site now has a full-scale reconstructed fort, a visitor centre, archaeological displays, trails, and a teaching garden.
It is not a large attraction, but it gives Ocala's history some teeth. The best exhibits explain the pressure on Seminole land, the military road network, and the long, costly war that reshaped this part of Florida.
