Sebastian Inlet State Park is the place that makes Sebastian worth a deliberate stop. The inlet cuts through the barrier island between the Atlantic and the Indian River Lagoon, with surf breaks, fishing jetties, beaches, paddling water, and room to watch the tide move.
The park also carries the local history. The McLarty Treasure Museum tells the story of the 1715 Spanish Plate Fleet, wrecked along this coast, while the Sebastian Fishing Museum covers the commercial fishing families who worked the lagoon.
