A 2.25-mile marked paddling trail loops through the mangrove tunnels and seagrass flats on the bay side of the park. The trail starts at the Soft Launch near the bay pier and is shallow enough for stand-up paddleboards as well as kayaks. The mangrove tunnels are the highlight — narrow, green, and full of mullet, crabs, and the occasional small shark cruising through.
A concessionaire at the boat ramp rents kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes by the hour. Bring polarised sunglasses to see what is moving under the water, and a dry bag for your phone. Mornings are calmest; the bay can chop up in the afternoon when the sea breeze fills in. Watch for the resident bottlenose dolphins, which often work the flats on a falling tide — they will swim within paddle-length and largely ignore you.
